Thanks, Dust. This is a borrowed printer so I'm loathe to begin replacing and upgrading too much. I will definitely be using upgraded electronics on my printer when I get/build it.

For now, I am buying the stepper IC from digikey along with some spares and also a few more 7805 regulators.

Thanks for the recommendation on the pololu's. I will begin reading up on the alternatives.
