When I designed my own Delta repstrap, I put the controller and stepper motors on the top. With the stepper motors and endstops all at the top, the only cables that had to run up from the base were the incoming 12V power feeds and the SSR signal down for the heatbed. There is a school of thought that mounting the motors up high is a bad idea due to frame flex and making the frame top-heavy, but there are also plenty of examples of Delta printers running with 2Kg spools of filament attached to the top which make the steppers' additional mass look like a drop in the bucket.....
