Adding a mouse wheel as a rotary encoder?

Hi guy!

I have on order a bunch of rotary encoders (20 steps) to use on a LCD controller for Ramps. Then I thought, could I use the center mouse wheel, it can scroll up and down and accepts a click. I'm sure we all have mice we no longer use. In the example I show here, there are alst 2 additional click buttons that could be used.

So any ideas how I would wire this to the RAMPS?

my plan is when I'm done, to design and print a really cool ergonomic case. where your thumb can can comfortable rest by the wheel.
