The fact that it works with a (possibly modified) open source software product is only half the story. The schematics and board layouts also need to be open source. If they aren't then doing anything down the road is not going to be easy. If you look at the pictures on the site, they are not all of the same board. Either there are several versions (that's never mentioned) or some of them are prototypes. Ramps is true open source that's a *much* better option.
