Re: $15 serial to wifi module HLK-RM04
The module is communicated to via udp or tcp/ip. I don't know of a way to alter the tool path of say arduino or similar to output raw tcp. If there is a way to emulate a company port with a tcp socket...

Looks like you can get that module on an arduino shield too. [www.goodluckbuy.com]

... OK, then you have a bipolar stepper with two coils - one between BLACK/BROWN and one between RED/ORANGE. So you'll need a common bipolar driver, e.g. a pololu, stepstick or what you can source ......

View ArticleDRV8825 vs DRV8824
Hey all, I was recently looking up info about the DRV8825 to answer a question and I spied this: [www.pololu.com]. It's the DRV8824, a lower current version of DRV8825. What intrigued me was this:...
View ArticleRe: DRV8825 vs DRV8824
I guess it means that the current sensing has a higher resolution but a lower range. That would mean it can achieve better control of low currents. So it sounds plausible, but could still be marketing...
View ArticleRe: Broken USB port on Melzi
You can just order a replacement connector. A little soldering work from your side and it can be fixed. I wouldn't define ripping off your USB connection as 'clumsy' though ;)

As I hoped, the Arduino Due is opening a bunch of ARM based boards. DigiX at $59 isn't bad compared to Due, but there is also Taijiuino [www.elechouse.com] which is $36. It would have been great if...

Wonderful, thanks, can you point me towards a replacement usb connector that would fit on the Melzi board? My next project will be to design something to stop this happening again.

One thing interesting to note is that the people behind the DigiX are also making a 3.3v to 5v level shifting shield, which could mean that people with an existing RAMPS setup could move straight to...
View ArticleRe: DigiX - The Ultimate Arduino Compatible Development Board
Yeah, a universal and cheap level shifter is a Holy Grail, but I think that is hard to do. For general digital I/O it should work fine, more tricky stuff like I2C and analog may be hard to convert...
