Re: Arduino destroyed and all stepper drivers destroyed
Thanks noobman It's not reverse polarity as the power wiring had worked ok before, as I'd been testing motors and end stops. Would just driving the motors up and down and not pressing the "motor off"...

Thanks Dust I guess it's possible, that I shorted something, I can't quit remember, I don't think I was plugging anything in, but its hard remember quite what I did that caused the destruction :-(

I already measured the resistance on the 5v input of the arduino, its around 5ohms, fortunately the USB port survived
View ArticleRe: usb-ttl converters question
I understand how that all works, Ive used the stuff with microcontrollers for around 2 1/2 years now, but was just curious how it affects the 3d printers in the aspect of different usb chipsets...
View ArticleRe: usb-ttl converters question
I have had disconnects with native USB and non-FTDI chipsets, so I don't think it is a particular feature of FTDI. It is more to do with the design of USB, and partly the implementation, i.e. good...

Ive seen alot of things about the latency with the ft232 chips, and causing issues with the microcontrollers. If you look around google, you'll see a bunch of people with that issue, and Ive...

Oh well, if you want to investigate things, or actually want to get something to fail it or disconnect it on purpose, take a tool like this angle grinder, put it on a socket with same phase and...

ok, thanks, but I wont really have anything that would cause that much noise around it tho, and I have a power supply with a bunch of massive caps in it already, designed for gaming systems, and for...

I am keen to get support for multicolor printing out there, so I have been working on an extruder expansion board. The initial concept is for 4 extruders (stepper drivers, heater outputs and...

Dust: The aim is allow 12 OR 24V operation. The reg is to allow the Due to drive the FETs properly, as well as powering the Due (I don't think the Due can handle >12V input to run it). We could use...

NoobMan: RAMPs has 2 diodes to offer reverse polarity protection on the 5A input (the one that goes to the Mega & the stepper drivers). D2 is reversed across the input (causing a direct short if...
View ArticleRe: Arduino destroyed and all stepper drivers destroyed
Well ok, there are two 1N4004 which are 1A diodes that try to protect against a 50A psu short, and a ptc 22A trip point, and ptc is that reacts very slowly. Sincerely dunno if that qualifies as rvp....
