Re: Driver and stepper getting hot really fast, but working

ah, very good. I will use that to do some testing. Interesting that they recommend replacing a resistor to limit the current more. Also interesting that they say current is maxed at 25%. I thought...

Re: Xmega based design?

If the built in USB is using LUFA, IMO it's most likely emulated USB. This means it'll be using much of that extra speed to talk to the PC, rather than running the machine. If you only intend to use...

Re: RAMPS for BeagleBone

Boards are shared on OSH Park. I'm working on the BOM.

Re: Electronics help needed - rather urgent!

Just regarding the motor alone, you could theoretically put voltage up to the coil insulation max, which is usually something like 400vdc or so. But the driver input is probably more like 30-40v max...

Re: Electronics help needed - rather urgent!

Dont go with the "apparent power" formula for the power or the stepper. As a large abstraction or just to compare ratings between motors maybe. But for actual standalone calculations, cant. Because...

Re: Xmega based design?

You cant put a ramps on a xmega, Ramps is designed for 5v, xmega is 3.3volt This is why ramps-fd was developed, for the 3.3v Due.

Re: RAMPS for BeagleBone

Uhh looks good, just what i need. But why only two low-current 12V FET outputs for fans/LEDs? When can I order?

QuoteKenzu Uhh looks good, just what i need. But why only two low-current 12V FET outputs for fans/LEDs? When can I order? There are two 12V FET outputs mostly because that's what is on RAMPS-FD, and...

Re: Electronics help needed - rather urgent!

Thanks Noobman, I have now been looking at a canstack linear actuator - this guy (the non-captive, bipolar, 7.5deg/step, 5V) It has been rated 5V and 561mA per phase. I don't want to run the motor at...

Re: RAMPS for BeagleBone

Okay, i'am in EU/DK maybe I will build it my self then :-) How about software? LinuxCNC? or is there any firmware like software that takes gcode and use the PRU's for stepping? I know Replicape has it...

Re: RAMPS for BeagleBone

I use LinuxCNC running on the BeagleBone. Details are on my blog, along with working SD card images. Other options I'm aware of include using the Replicape software from Elias, or the BeBoPr software...

Re: Electronics help needed - rather urgent!

Dont think those would work fine with usual pololu drivers. First off, two of them have 52ohms resistance and 0.23A current, those are pretty much the wrong type. The others two are 8.9ohms and...

Re: Endstops not working on Sanguish

Sorry I haven't been on for a while. I've been out of it with a big project at work lately. A couple questions. Do the optos pull the signal line high or low when interrupted? Same question for the...

Re: Electronics help needed - rather urgent!

Thanks Noobman, think we'll be going with these instead. There is a 2.33V 1.5A linear actuator which should be perfect (i hope). We were checking out can-stack actuators since they are slightly...

SD init fail: What's wrong here?

Hey everyone, I'm just trying to get my Prusa going via SD card. I got a Rumba board + standard arduino microSD breakout, connected to EXP1. The pins should fit up correctly. In Repetier Host's...

How close is the bom on github to the schematic? And what is the status of production? I will be ordering parts soon according to answers of these questions.

Re: RAMPS for Due!

I don't know about the state of production, but the BOM on github is for the previous version board, not the current schematic and PCB. I just had to go through this for my port of the design to a...

Re: Electronics help needed - rather urgent!

Yes the one with 1.5A and 1.56ohms sounds much better. What that page calls "operating voltage" is only the product of these two numbers, not the "real" operating voltage which the motor is to be...

Re: RAMPS for Due!

As cdsteinkuehler says, the BOM is not up to date. Hopefully we'll get to that soon.
