Melted laptop CPU after switching on heatbed
Hi guys! This weekend, I replaced the Melzi on my parents' Mendel. This is all I ever did to the new Melzi: Wired up Adjusted trim pots Uploaded RepRappro Marlin Connected with Pronterface Motors and...

Hello, I have a problem with my print bed thermistor, or better with the temperature display in Marlin. Everything worked in the beginning HotEnd Temp was displayed, bed temp was displayed I could...

Shorting the thermistor input to 12V destroys the input and gives that symptom. It is usually the extruder where they can get shorted easily. Less common on the bed.

uha bad news ;( but how could I shorten the thermistor input to12V? I have a the E3D fan connected to the 12V power supply. The additional cooling fan for the PLA was added after the symptoms occured....

QuoteLeChuck71 uha bad news ;( but how could I shorten the thermistor input to12V? I don't know without seeing your bed and its wiring, but it is the only reason I know of that causes analogue inputs...

Hey nophead, thanks for your help. Well I'll check the wiring, actually I was more worried on my HotEnd isolation than the one from the bed but sh... happens Sending some pics here to check if I did...

Quotecdsteinkuehler The only thing not really working as expected is the thermistor inputs. The signal levels are so low at room temperature with a 1.8V ADC range that the leakage from the protection...

UPDATE I did a complete rewiring of my printer. The 12V cables run now separately from the 5V IO hope that helps to prevent any shorts Reconfigured my pins.h with help of the Ramps 1.4 layout so that...

Hello RepRap Community! The excitement is real, I have finally began building a 3D printer. However, after tackling many issues, I still have at least one left before doing a test print. My current...

I like the look of the Azteeg 5 and I think it is 32 bit which should keep it around a while. Though I have only used ramps.

Compare the voltage between the ground on the PSU and the ground on your laptop, without the Melzi connected to the laptop. If there's a significant difference, that could be your issue. I would...

Quotekroylar What have you done with this in the newer versions of the board? Particularly, I see that a fully assembled v2.2 board is available from pico-systems. What is the state of the thermistor...

Azteeg X5 Mini and Smoothieware are indeed 32-bit, and cost-competitive with quality 8-bit AVR boards here in the USA. I consider it and the E3D hotend to be necessities for all of my new printer...

What about the fan? I can't see any in the picture. If you have a general one that blows over the heatcore, that's not actually a good setup. Did you check that the set screw holding the stainless...
View ArticleRe: Hot End Temperature Not Reading Accurately
I think your extruder "having trouble pushing the filament" may not be related to temperature. Perhaps the filament path has an inner diameter too small (should be at least 3.2mm to allow for filament...

UPDATE: After adjusting the thermistor tables as NoobMan suggested (thanks again), I was able to toy with it and get the hotend reading correctly on pronterface. To avoid screwing up the calibration...

Where did you get the thermistor that is in the hot end you have? If you can find the correct table for it (or calculate it) then you'll get much better results. You may find that the calibration is...

You mentioned that you bought the extruder used. Maybe the guy before used it for abs, and was not fully cleaned, so it needs 240c to melt those abs bits in order to extrude, otherwise at lower temp...
